The loans come in two forms,as you know,as the subsidized and the non-subsidized options.The former option requires the student to pay no interest during the college days and the grace period.This means students will have great freedom and will be completely relieved from paying for these loans.Whereas the latter option is slightly disadvantageous when compared to the counterpart.And i think you will guessed what the disadvantage is.The loan is just opposite of the subsidized choice.You will have to pay for the interest and hence,these are considered the secondary options.

As far as the application is concerned,it is no big deal.You just got to fill the FAFSA form and you will soon be informed about what kind of financial aid you can receive.As you can see,the government has made the process very simple and effortless for the students.

someone called me on the telephone claiming to be able to give me a Federal Grant, all i had to do was give them my bank account and routing number. my dad told me to hang up the phone because it was a scam. was it really a scam. could they have really stolen all the money in my account, or was it a real grant.

That's a SCAM. Thank your dad for smelling the scam off

You can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two FREE sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support your purposes.

Even if you buy books on "how to get grants" or list that supposedly has information on grants -- all of them are mere rehash of what CFDA has, albeit packaged differently.
