You can get up to $26K in scholarship money from the Ambassadorial scholarships by the Rotary International.  You need to demonstrate great academic excellence.  You need to submit a portfolio of your writing and whoever wins the scholarship they get anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000.

Is Johnson & Wales Universit y any good??

Hey Guys!
I'm an international student from Brazil and I went to a international student fair and I talked to a women from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI.
She was outstanding and got me very excited about this university...I know it's not a Ivy league but is it any good? I got a 5.000 dollar scholarship and they can break tution payments in months which makes it affordable to me cuz all the others schools I wanted I couldn't attend due to the financial situation.
Cuz I was thinking about attending it at least for the first year and if I don't like I'll transfer...What do you guys think?

It's a solid, reputable university that many people have heard of. However, it's not in the elite, and it's not in the top tiers of most rankings tables. But if it's really your only option re: finances, know that it really is a reputable university. I consider it tier 3. That means it doesn't suck, but it's not exactly amongst the academically elite in general, but it's got a very, very strong culinary program, and a good reputation in that field and in the hotel, restaurant and travel industry specifically.

J&W's main campus is in Providence, although it does have campuses in some other cities - so if you wanted to spend a semester in Florida, that should be possible. It is a very career-focused school, which a lot of the students there seem to really like. Providence itself is a great city. It's large enough to have life to it, and small enough not to feel overwhelming. There are other universities in town, which gives it a very nice student life. And it's less than an hour from Boston, which is a major city with a lot of opportunities.

I don't think J&W would be a bad choice for you at all. It's hard for an international student to get *ANY* funding at US universities, so the fact that they're giving you some funding is great.
