Applying For A Minority Scholarship

A minority scholarship can make the process of attending College a lot easier for those who qualify.

These are funds that are specifically given to a particular group of people. Some people assume this means that the money For College is awarded based on the color of one's skin but this is not completely accurate, there are many other factors.

Hector Milla Editor of the "Free Scholarships And Grants" website -- http://www.FreeScholarshipsAndGrants.org/free-online-scholarships-money -- pointed out;

"…Fitting the bill of a minority is what the scholarship criteria is, but it is not what the final decision is completely based on. How can you find out if you qualify for a minority scholarship? …"

You will have to check the rules that the scholarship is based on. Some of these scholarships are aimed toward women and think of women as a minority simply for the reason that for years women were denied the same opportunity for higher education that men received.

This type of scholarship can be geared toward who are from other countries and nationalities. There are Latin American scholarships as well as ones for other ethnic groups.

"…A minority scholarship is not based solely on the receiver's income. The application will be reviewed for things like need, grades, volunteer work and involvement in school activities, everything counts. These scholarships are also awarded based on religion and the type of work the recipient intends to go into after graduation…" added H. Milla.

Are Minorities still oppressed in American sociey in 2007?

I step out of my house and my color means everything.It can become a factor in my work how i much i get paid and how im spoken 2. I took my son to the hospital today and a woman did not want to get on the elevator with us. She said she would wait for the next one because she didnt want to ride with a N-word! I worked in a department store and a woman with the same qualifications as me was paid 3 dollars more. I applied For Scholarships and no one gives them to me not even the Negro foundation because im not "black" enough. What I am trying to say is why are we still judging one another and why are cultures constantly held down because of "what" they are?

I am so sorry you even have things that hurt you in this day and age. If I was called a name and refused to get into an elevator with me. I would find out where that woman works and confront her and sue her butt. I cannot believe that you are refused anything from the Negro foundation as there are so many varying degrees of color today it makes no sense at all. Racism should be addressed, try to educated the offender. I would take my issues public. Unfortunately racism is very much alive in the USA. I find racism is usually bred and spead like fungus in small town America. Do not bury your pain address it make it public and only then will the offenders stop their stupidities.
