parent plus loan or private student loan?

a. I DO NOT want my parents to pay for my education.
b. I know that Parent Plus Loans have better interests rates (most of the time). But I want to pay for my own education (which won't happen now, but hopefully after getting a career and becoming financially independent, it will)

My plan: get a private student loan. Have it deferred until I graduate (hopefully from med school), then pay it off myself.

Is this recommended? I would rather get a parent plus loan and pay my parents, but I understand that the Plus loans aren't deferrable. So I won't be able to pay them now.

Help? I really really don't want my parents to have to pull out another loan. They have to pay my brother's loans, and because of the UC fee increase, it's a lot worse. Also, I can't graduate in four years so I'm going an extra year in undergrad. I want to pay for my last 2 years.
