i have a six months visa for staying in the united kingdom....?

How would i go about trying to attend a college here to get a degree (so i can use in the usa) It will take longer then 6 months to get my degree and i don't know if a college will accept me or what i am supoose to do to get into a college in the uk. Also woul di be able to apply for scholorships or grants since i am a u.s. citizen?
